More than 100 volunteers participated in setting up APO-GLA’s designated hydration station at Mile 13. Hydration station set-up started at 5:00 AM with members filling drinking cups with water and Nuun Electrolytes. These would be handed to the approximately 10,000 registered runners who would pass by in a couple of hours.

Multiple times postponed to different dates due to COVID19, the 36th Los Angeles Marathon finally pushed through on November 7, 2021 with COVID19 Health and Safety plan in place.

APOGLA Blood Drive with Cedars-Sinai Blood Collection Services. 23 donors were able to donate and save lives this day.

APOGLA Golf Tournament, in cooperation with APO Golf Club USA, held last August 28, 2021 at the Los Serranos Golf Club in Chino Hills, CA. Approximately 100 golfers participated in the golf tournament which raised $4700 for the APOkids Scholarship. Hats off to the project chair, Bro Hadrian “Bobet” Lara and to his support team Sis Melody Ang-Gayon and Sis Jen Escartin-Evangelista, and to the APOGLA volunteers – Rene Calvario, Henry Valdecantos, Ofelia Amon, Bicbic Ford, Reubin Conferido, Paul Languisan, Joel Pablo, Sam Clarete, Jimy Bautista, Marilou Fajardo, Dan Nino, Christian David, Emma Galang, Liza Valera, Dae Mendre, Reniel Atienza, Precy Marte, Gigi Paras, Jun Salinas, Malou de Leon, Bong Ansula, Rudy Emperado and Sancho Sy. We would like to express our gratitude to Bro Oca Atienza for hosting and providing venue for the awarding ceremony. Many thanks also to all the project sponsors, donors and players.

On May 15, 2021, 27 brothers, sisters and familial members were at the Gardena Willows Wetland Preserve in the City of Gardena for our service to the community for the month of May. The Gardena Willows Wetland Preserve covers 13.6 acres and is the last intact remnant of the Dominguez Channel. The wetland was used by the Gabrielino Indians or Tongva Indians as a source of sustenance and as a waterway where they would travel in their canoes in order to trade with other Indian tribes.

For approximately three hours, brothers, sisters and familial members labored and patiently removed invasive plant species and restored habitats for both flora and fauna at the preserve.

Staff at the preserve were very grateful for our service and asked when our group would be back. Thank you to the following who volunteered and represented APOGLA in its service to the community through this restoration day.
